The Authority places a high priority on providing its subscribers reliable, 24/7 service. In the mid- to late 1990s, we learned that any web-based reporting system had points where system failures could occur. In response, we began distributing thousands of PCs and scanners to Georgia’s 159 counties to assure the quality of their equipment. We systematically upgraded our network service and main data center, and continually take preventive actions to avoid service interruptions.
Despite growth from 2000 to over 11,000 subscribers, over a billion website hits in 2006, and over 120 million deed images on-line, the Authority has virtually eliminated “downtime.” Whether you search the records after lunch on Wednesday or at 1:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, our database servers provide the search results in seconds. The Authority has invested in an emergency generator that provides power in case of electrical failures. In addition, a new back-up site has been established in a remote state-of-the-art data center which has the highest level of electronic and physical security. In case of a major disaster at the Authority headquarters, we can switch to the back-up data center to provide our subscribers uninterrupted service.
